How to Wire the 220V ACDC series Solar Pump Controller

 

This 220V AC/DC controller is rated for pumps under 2200W, widely used for household, farm and rural water systems across Australia. It runs the pump on solar power during the day and automatically switches over to 220V mains when sunlight is low. Ideal for tank water supply, bore pumping, farm water and remote off-grid applications. This tutorial is written for beginners. Step-by-Step Wiring Instructions

⚠️ Safety Notice Disconnect both 220V mains and solar panel supply before starting any wiring work to avoid electric shock.

Step 1: Connect 220V Mains Power

Connect neutral wire to AC IN N and active wire to AC IN L. Mains power acts as backup supply. The controller will auto-switch to grid power when solar output drops, maintaining consistent water supply.

Step 2: Connect Solar Panels

Wire your solar panel array through a DC circuit breaker. Connect solar positive to DC IN P+ and solar negative to DC IN P-.
⚠️ Double-check polarity. Reversed positive / negative will permanently damage the controller.

Step 3: Connect Submersible Solar Pump

Connect the 3-core three-phase pump cable to output terminals OUT U, V, W. If the pump runs backwards after power-up, swap any two of the U/V/W wires.

 

 

Step 4: Tank Full Float Switch Wiring

Run the two-core float-switch cable to TANK TH and COM. Perfect for Australian household rainwater tanks or elevated water tanks. The controller automatically stops the pump once the tank reaches full level.

Step 5: Bore Water Level Protection (Optional)

If pumping from a bore or underground water source, wire the level float switch to WELL COM and WEL. The controller shuts the pump down when bore water level falls too low, preventing dry-run damage.

Step 6: Final Wiring Check & Power-Up Commissioning

Power-up sequence: Close the DC solar breaker first, then switch on the 220V mains backup breaker. Observe controller indicator lights.
